The #ThreadedInGold Campaign

Social Media as Cultural Infrastructure for AAPI Voices

This project came to life as a social media and marketing strategy designed for AAPI -centered and -aligned arts organizations and nonprofits, with the goal of helping them strengthen their brand identity, amplify their digital presence, and position themselves as cultural pillars within NYC’s AAPI community.

At the heart of this work is #ThreadedInGold: a storytelling-driven campaign that honors heritage, memory, and identity through emotionally resonant and visually grounded content. Rooted in accessibility, creativity, and care, the campaign offers adaptable tools for building community across generations and digital platforms.

The #ThreadedInGold campaign was inspired by the powerful opening imagery of the play Yoko’s Husband’s Killer’s Japanese Wife, Gloria (link) which features a young Asian girl in a dream-state beneath a cascade of golden threads. These threads are followed by appearances of strong Asian women throughout history, symbolizing legacy, resilience, and inherited memory. This imagery became the visual and thematic foundation for the campaign: golden threads as a colorful metaphor for the interwoven stories and strengths passed down through generations in AAPI communities. , where golden threads cascade from above and usher in powerful Asian women from across history.

This capstone reflects my ongoing passion for arts accessibility, cultural visibility, and creative healing within AAPI communities. It’s a love letter to the stories that shape us, and an offering to the people and organizations working to preserve and pass them on.
